Message	when buying a car off the street (private owner) its an "as is" thing. The car was ur responsibility to take it to a mechanic to have it checked out. He can just say u bought the car and on the way home u drove it hard and screwed it up hence its ur word against his. Most of the time in court u will lose. If the judge is a sympathiser then u might have a chance. But unless u made out a contract with him stating to fix certain problems then i wish u the best of luck in court.
